How to use ChatGPT in email marketing? | ChatGPT is a general-purpose chatbot developed by tech startup OpenAI that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate human-like text after a user enters a prompt. And here’s how you can use it in email marketing. |

1. Generate subject lines | You have to write something that summarises the email while being catchy enough to entice users to click on your email and also keep it under 60 characters! Sounds stressful? ChatGPT can help you by suggesting dozens of subject lines within seconds. We asked ChatGPT to "Provide some email subject lines for an email newsletter about using ChatGPT in email marketing. Limit the length to 60 characters." And here's what it gave us: | | To maximize the open rate, you can pick the best 2-3 subject lines and A/B test them to find out which one works for your audience and send the winning subject line to the rest of your subscribers. |

2. Generate email copies Since ChatGPT is primarily a text-based generative AI, you can easily use it to generate email copy customized to your use case or topic in seconds. To do this: - Decide the type of email and the goal you want to achieve.
- Provide input prompts or templates that specify the type of content you want to include in the email, such as the subject line, introduction, body copy, and call-to-action.
- Edit and refine to ensure that it meets your business's brand guidelines, tone, and style.
- Once you have finalized the email copy, you can use ChatGPT to generate different variations and test them using A/B testing to determine the most effective version.
🎰 Bonus: If you have already created similar emails in the past, you can use these as a training dataset to train a ChatGPT model. This can be done using an open-source library like Hugging Face or a cloud-based AI platform offering pre-trained models like OpenAI's GPT-3. |

3. Help with topic research If you write a newsletter or create content, you know that one of the biggest challenges is finding relevant and interesting topics for your audience. And researching and finding new topics can take a lot of time and effort. This is where ChatGPT can help, as you provide input prompts or questions related to your niche or industry, and it lists down some ideas for you. For example, "What are the latest trends in digital marketing?" or "What are some common challenges faced by small business owners?". | |

4. Create email automation outlines If you want to create certain types of automation workflows, you can use ChatGPT to outline them. All you have to do is think about what type of email flow you want to create, for who, and for what occasions or triggers. To get accurate email automation flows, you should: - Define why the email will get triggered. E.g., lead magnet download, signup, purchase completion, etc.
- Define what your company does. E.g., E-commerce shoe brand, software, etc.
- Specific what you want to achieve during or at the end of the email series, like signup, demo, sale, etc.
We asked ChatGPT to “Create an email automation workflow for new leads who have just downloaded a free ebook on “State of Email 2023.” In the course of the email series, they should be introduced to our company which is an email marketing service provider. Show the results in a tabular format”. And, we got details on the type of emails we had to send and when to send them. | | Note: While ChatGPT is an amazing tool, it's only as good as its user.
